30 years ago today, Hurricane Hugo made landfall at midnight Sept 22, 1989 near Sullivan's Island, SC as a category 4 hurricane. From a 20 foot storm tide at the coast to hurricane force wind gusts observed 200 miles inland, Hugo dealt a severe impact to both SC and NC.
