CSX salutes Engineering Department employees Kermit Purvis and Randy Hilton. During their annual CSX safety certification seminar, Kermit and Randy had their training put to the test when a staff member at the event facility suddenly experienced cardiac arrest. Working together, the pair performed CPR until EMTs arrived. Reacting swiftly during an emergency situation requires preparation, and CSX remains committed to ensuring every employee is well trained for success should an event occur. #ONE

The CSX fleet of heritage locomotives is growing again with the introduction of CSX 1897, painted in a custom design honoring the Monon Railroad. Also known as The Hoosier Line and the Chicago, Indianapolis, and Louisville Railway, the Monon Railroad connected Chicago and Louisville, operating almost entirely in Indiana. CSX’s newest heritage locomotive commemorates the proud history of the Western Maryland Railway, which formed in 1852! The Western Maryland was a small but mighty railroad that hauled coal and freight in Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania before merging with the B&O and C&O to eventually become part of CSX as we know it today.
