ABG Basics Part 3: Compensation Is it uncompensated, partially, or fully compensated? Here’s how to tell: 🟠 If the pH is out of range and only one of the other values is off → Uncompensated 🟡 If the pH is out of range and both CO₂ bicarb are off → Partially compensated 🟢 If the pH is normal but both CO₂ bicarb are off → Fully compensated Then check which direction the pH leans (acidic or basic) and match it with the other value that leans the same direction to figure out the underlying issue.
