The examiner stabilizes the thigh with one hand while placing the other hand behind the proximal tibia and applies an anterior translational force to the tibia relative to the femur. Compare to the unaffected side. A positive examination is defined by increased anterior tibial translation greater than 2 mm, with or without a firm end point.
