We have been run off our feet the past few days responding to what is being called a ‘paralysis event’. Flying foxes, mostly adult male blacks, are being found hanging by themselves in trees or on the ground all over Brisbane. These bats are not injured and in the prime of their lives. They are presenting with symptoms of some kind of toxicity, the source is still unknown.
