Here’s why we always suggest using a squatty potty or some other way to elevate your feet when having a bowel movement! The position in which your knees are higher than your hips allows the puborectalis (a muscle that surrounds your rectum) to relax and therefore empty the bowel movement a bit easier. Other tips include breathing through the bowel movement, leaning forward and resting elbows on your thighs, and placing knees closer together to open the pelvic outlet. #pelvicfloor #pelvichealth #
